The Value of Press Releases

Thursday, September 4th, 2008

Press releases can have significant value. Depending on the type of press release, the value can differ.

The different types of press releases include announcements, spots, reaction stories, bad news, and local ‘hometown’ releases.

An announcement can include a public service announcement, sales, business earnings, new products, etc.

A spot announcement usually contains an on-the-spot-message like a flood or a storm. This message is going to go out to the public on the spot.

A reaction story can include a gunman in a local neighborhood or a school. This would cause the school to go into lockdown. A reaction story is a story that will cause a group of people to react.

Bad-news releases are common today because it looks bad for a company to try to cover up information if something bad is happening. So they will create a news release and tell the public about the bad event so that there are no surprises. This helps to prevent or put a stop to negative talk about hiding information.

The last type of press release mentioned, which isn’t used enough, is the local or the hometown release. Newspapers love information about what is happening locally and if the press release is written properly, it has a great chance of being used.

The purpose of using any of these releases is to create awareness about what is going on. Press releases can be sent to radio, television, newspapers, essentially all media outlets.

Press releases save on the costs of advertising and if a newspaper uses the press release, the press release will hit a large audience.

Another reason press releases are better than advertising is because of the fact that the credibility of ‘news’ is higher than that of advertising with the consumer.

Whether the news is good or bad, the value of a press release is insurmountable; saving money on advertising, notifying the public about events, disasters, new products, saving a company from scandal, or just letting folks know what is new with you and your business and keeping on the top of their minds.

To your success!

Squidoo: Swarovski Crystal Beads

Sunday, August 31st, 2008

The Swarovski Company was founded in Swavorski Crystal Ring late 19th Century when Daniel Swarovski invented an automatic cutting machine for crystal, and in 1895 established a crystal cutting factory in Austria. The birthplace of Swarovski Athletic Apparel factory was Wattens, which was chosen because local hydroelectricity made the energy-intensive process involved more cost-effective. …

The art of quilting has been around for a long time. While first used for functionality only, it quickly became a form of art. For this purpose, and to get quilt patterns finished quickly, the quilters guild was formed so that large groups of people could work on a quilt together. These guilds were often called quilting bees. This made it possible to finish many quilts in a timely manner, while having fun at the same time.

The Crusaders were the first people to use quilted fabrics on a regular basis. They used the quilt fabric under the armor of knights, so that Swarovski Irene Bracelet were protected from the metal. Its fabrics were tougher and stronger than other fabrics, which made them idea for this task. There is some evidence to suggest that the Egyptians also used quilts.

The quilters guild was Swarovski Austrian Crystal formed at the time of the Crusaders as well, to produce large quantities of armor padding. The original ones were probably men, but when the ladies took over they turned it into something much more beautiful than mere under padding.

By the 1700 and 1800s, such skills were used as kind of a summery of how proficient a girl was at sewing. Early quilts were made from one piece of cloth but the patchwork quilt was invented due to the frugality of some ladies of the day, as they discovered a clever use for scraps of fabric.

The quilters guild of today is a fun way to get together with other like-minded people, and the older, more experienced members Crystal Online the newer members on things such as quilt patterns, quilt sets, how to machine quilt, handmade quilts, patchwork quilts, and different techniques to make quilting easier. Many quilting guilds will also have fundraising shows, where the quilters sell their quilts and raise money for activities that the guild members might want to do. Some guilds are so large that they are a national or even international organization.

Some quilting guilds offer books in which they publish the quilting tips that their members have found to be the most helpful. Some quilting guilds charge membership fees, while others allow people to join for free.

If you are not lucky enough to be in an area that has a quilting guild, then you might want to look into purchasing some books on quilting that would be able to further you in your quilting journey. Of course, many quilting shops also give lessons on a periodic basis, so taking a few of those would probably help as well.

Quilting professionals have unique and wonderful skills. They create the beautiful quilts that everyone loves to see and feel. If you are a new quilter, and wish to learn more about it, then joining a quilters guild might be the right thing to do. If there is no guild around, then maybe you could just take some classes on quilting. This can help your skills increase rapidly and easily.

Fat Loss 4 Idiots Complaints - Read Before You Buy

Friday, August 29th, 2008

Like any other diet, Fat Loss 4 Idiots generates some common complaints. After talking to more than a hundred people who used this diet, I decided to write this article about the common FatLoss4Idiots complaints so that you know what are the negative things people say about this diet so that you’ll know everything there is to know before you buy it.

Here are some common Fat Loss 4 Idiots Complaints

  • The diet has a fruit and vegetables day which is a little difficult - This is a single day in the 11 day menu in which you get to eat nothing more than fruit and veggies. Some people find it difficult to stick to even though it’s just for one day.
  • Fat Loss 4 Idiots isn’t for diabetics - Let’s get this straight since it’s a question which many people ask me: FatLoss4Idiots isn’t made for diabetics. It works excellent for some and not so great for others.
  • It’s very hard to drink all that water - Fat Loss 4 Idiots requires you to drink at least 8 glasses of water each day. This is something which some people find hard to do. However, it’s healthy for you regardless of the diet, so I suggest that you simply do it.
  • The biggest Fat Loss 4 Idiots complaint is that the diet doesn’t have a support center. This is indeed a grave disadvantage even though most people don’t need any support since the diet is so simple. To provide a partial solution for this I wrote a support guide for fat loss 4 idiots which you can get for free.

Women’s Business Attire - 5 Tips to Snap up Bargains at Sale Time

Saturday, August 23rd, 2008

Does your work wardrobe need a tune up? Good news! It’s clearance time, and this is the time to pick up some bargains to replenish your business attire.

The signs are everywhere, showing up to 75 percent off. Retailers want to clear their shelves to make room for spring stock.

If you are looking for a few stylish items to update your business wardrobe, here are some tips for capturing the best business dress deals.

1. Cashmere crews: This is the time to pick up basics to replenish your wardrobe. Cashmere sweaters are timeless and go under suits or look great on their own. At 50-70 percent off, you can get one or two in a neutral color such as navy or black, and one just for fun in Kelly green.

2. Wrap dresses: The wrap dress is a classic. Look for colorful jersey, or a black and white print sheathe. Diane Von Furstenberg makes fabulous wraps. Other companies have great wraps as well, at a variety of price points. These dresses are perfect for the office or after hours, and make the most of women’s shapes. Even better, they never seem to go out of style.

3. Coats: Now is the time to splurge on a fantastic coat. If the high-priced coat you’ve been coveting is available at over 50 percent off, you can now splurge without guilt. Remember that a good quality, classic coat can last a decade or more. But be sure that it fits well, and you love the color. Otherwise you’ll end up leaving it in the closet.

4. Fun items. Bubble hems, tunics and chartreuse may be a bit much when they come off the runway and the sticker price is high. But at a discount, you can be more open with the fun stuff. If you’re sick of your black pants and sweater uniform for winter, why not try a knit tunic or dress for a change?

5. Staples: You will always need another pair of good leather gloves, black pants, boots or a down coat. If the price and fit are right, now is the time to replenish your wardrobe.

Final tip: Take your time. If you are hesitating, it probably means something isn’t working for you. Don’t buy it. You’ll find something better at the next store!

Women’s Winter Clothing

Thursday, August 21st, 2008

Poise and elegance is symbolic of every woman. Winter styles add more meaning to daily lives with fashion providing more variety each year. The seasons clothing is not restricted to jackets and shrugs but extends to head gear, boots, accessories. Much is left to explore in cosmetic areas of hair and skin. A complete look is essential to chase the winter blues, if any.

The look of the season is come-back fashion of yesteryears and a combination of modern yet regal looks. Fiery reds, forest greens and browns, rust tinted orange or typical greys the winter collection changes each year. Peacoats, capes and knee length coat dictate this year’s trend.

Aggressive trends can be adopted in plaid designed overcoats with a long muffler hanging loose, Ponchos for the casual wear, Jackets for the tough look and feminine designs in cashmere and cardigans. Scarf tying is an art and a stole can grace a garb. Necklines have plenty of designs be it V necks, polos, open collars and lace collars.

Comfort is essential with breathe-easy inner lining/layers. Body stretch materials are feminine. Zipper T shirts in wool patterns give the perfect look. Caps are stylized e.g. Isle Hat, tassels in the end, braided designs, ear flaps, poppy hats and camel hair hats. The idea is to complete the look without compromising on the comfort. Pockets are regular details with inner layers in silk or woolen fabrics. Fancy gloves are necessary and well designed to accentuate feminine fingers.

Knitwear stays forever in fashion. This year saw a lot of leggings and short mini skirts in leather teamed with voluminous long jackets. For aviation experts the design should be wind resistant and light weight too. Visitors to polar expeditions need to have polar boots offering strong, steady grip, water resistant gear for melting snow or unexpected blizzards. Goggles and Head gear are necessary accessories.

The real trick is in the fit and ability to carry it. Be it the grunge look with heavy denims, tweed jackets or roadie boots with headband the style needs to be experimented. Teaming Jeans, a cropped jacket and pumps is not a bad idea. Women winter coats are also available with a cozy and warm fabric.

Matched with a perfect hairstyle and bold make up, one can melt the snow. With such a wide range and newer designs of sweater dress every season one realizes that FUR is not at all necessary.

How to Choose Clothing for Your Children - Tips For Women

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008

The dilemma of buying children’s clothing begins even before your child is born. After having a baby, women usually receive some clothes as baby gifts. Often these are small sizes that your child will outgrow very soon. So you can see that buying clothes is an ongoing task for parents.

As an infant, a baby will change sizes every few weeks. Buy durable clothing in washable, comfortable fabrics. Babies have many accidents so you’ll need to buy clothes that are easy to clean. If you use bright colors instead of pastels, they will not soil or stain as easily. When shopping for children’s clothes, many women seek high-quality clothing. But if you‚re on a tight budget, you can always wait for clothing store sales at places such as Gap, Old Navy, Disney Baby, or Babies R Us.

Bargain Seekers

With the knowledge that a child will outgrow their clothing quickly, some women go thrift shopping and check garage sales. Many times these clothes are barely worn and may even look almost new. Thrift shopping is a good way to find children’s brand name clothing without paying the full price. Sometimes clothing for boys in larger sizes is harder to find at these sources because of the wear and tear. Finding clothing for girls may be a bit easier. The key to finding great clothes at a bargain is to shop often. Visit your local thrift shop once a week and frequent yard sales in your area.

Yard sales are even better than thrift stores in some ways because you can bargain with the seller. Try picking out a bundle of clothing and other items; then make an offer for the entire bundle. You might be surprised at how little you will pay for items. Also, check for bargains through the newspaper classifieds. Occasionally, you’ll see offerings for children’s clothing directly through the ads.

Preparing for Ever-Changing Sizes and Needs

When your child gets to the toddler stage, clothing needs will change. During and after potty training, separate tops and bottoms will be more practical. Dresses and pull-on pants make training easier and encourage the toddler to be independent. Buy clothes that are easy to put on and take off so your toddler can learn to dress himself. You will need to buy good shoes that are comfortable. When fitting shoes, allow a half-inch in front of the toes when standing and make sure the heel fits properly.

If you have younger children of the same gender but different ages, or if you plan to have another baby soon, keep unsoiled clothing put away for the next child. This will save you money, and younger children usually never know the difference. Store the clothing in a dry, tightly sealed plastic container to keep mice and moths out. Include a fabric sheet to keep the clothes smelling fresh.

Buying Children’s Clothing for School

When your child starts school, clothing needs will again change. At this time, your child may want to help pick out clothes. Before you go shopping for clothes, have your child try on last year’s clothes and see what can still be worn. Then look for clothing that is comfortable, washable, and easy to keep clean. Many mothers choose children’s clothing that is simple with large buttons and has zippers with pulls, elastic waists, and large neck openings. Buy clothes that are appropriate and safe. Avoid big legs, loose ribbons or sashes, and slippery shoes. Even if you can’t afford expensive fashionable clothes, choose basic clothing in colors and styles your child likes.

Watch for store sales on school clothing and save money if your state has tax-free shopping days. In the winter, dress your child in layers. While they are outdoors they can wear their coats, hats, gloves, and scarves. Inside, they can also wear layers to remove if they become uncomfortable. A sweatshirt over a button-up shirt or a t-shirt under a button-up shirt will provide this option. Many women with smaller children choose clothing that will be easy to remove when going to the bathroom. The teachers always appreciate this!

Remember that some styles may be cute and very stylish but not comfortable or practical. Look at women’s magazines to get ideas, or talk to other mother’s that have more experience with children‚s clothing to make the best choices.

Paris Hilton: Is She the New Madonna?

Monday, August 18th, 2008

The answer is no. But more importantly, you may ask, who is Paris Hilton? Well, she is the grand daughter of Conrad Hilton of the Hilton Hotel fame. She first saw public notoriety when a stolen sex video of her hit the internet a few years ago and she gained a reputation as ” Paris the heiress.” The word Paris Hilton is now the most searched name on the internet next to Britney Spears, Pamela Anderson, Angela Jolie, and you get the idea.

She is now 26 years old, making a living in Beverly Hills as a model and making over $250,000 a year. She has her own line of perfume, designer clothing line, and her sister Nicky Hilton recently opened up her own chain of hotels. Her song ” Stars are Blind” from her second cd is gaining popularity among some, although she is more of a model than a singer. She is scheduled to debut on MTV this fall and hasn’t made a movie yet due to anxiety attacks on the set. The reason that she is not quite famous in the public eye as of yet is not really clear. Her publicity team tends to sell her as an image of enigmatic mystery rather than a bonafide celebrity although she has made sporadic appearances on Elen Degener show and such.

For some of us who know her on myspace, she is some what brash and ego centric, surrounded by 200 copy cat sites made by her “fans” pretending to be Paris. This is somewhat contrary to her public image where she comes off as being some what shy and unknowing about the common folks who make up her fan base. After listening to her songs one can almost assume that reggae and disco went out of style in the 80’s and she really does not have classical training for a pop artist.

So the question once more is will Paris replace Madonna and Mariah Carey as a pop singer and will she become a movie star and more of a celebrity in the next few years? That is hard to say. My hunch is that as her reputation in the public media becomes more defined, she may well become a house hold word in about 3 to 5 years, as much as it took Jackie Chan years to end up in a Pepsi commercial. By that time I will be too old to understand or appreciate the growing phenomena by that time, but then again. That’s life. No, that’s Paris.

How To Buy Used Guitar Pedals Online Without Getting Ripped Off

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008

Deciding to buy a used guitar pedals online can potentially save you a lot of money, but you also want to be careful; used pedals can be defective or even missing parts sometimes. Unfortunately, there are also scammers online who deal in deception. In this article, we’ll outline how to reduce your chances of getting ripped off when buying used guitar pedals online.

One of the best ways to buy used pedals cheap is through auction sites. Obviously, eBay is one popular choice, but there are also many other auction sites online, some of which focus exclusively on guitar gear. But before you bid on a guitar pedal up for auction, there are a few points to keep in mind.

ALWAYS investigate the reputation of the seller before deciding to bid. Most auction sites have a feedback and ratings system. This will allow you to see what kind of experiences others have had purchasing items from a particular seller. While it is practically impossible for a seller to have 100% positive feedback rating (after all, some people will complain about anything), you do want to make sure that the percentage of happy buyers is very high. A 98% or higher positive rating is preferable.

You also want to consider how many items the seller has sold at auction. If their positive feedback is 100%, but they’ve only sold two items, you can’t be really sure what kind of seller they are. On the other hand, if you see thousands of successful auctions, and a 98% positive rating, it’s a pretty safe bet that the seller is a straight shooter and is not out to rip anyone off.

It’s also important to thoroughly investigate the condition of the used guitar pedals being offered. Most pedals sold on online auctions will include a photo, so you can get a good sense of the condition of the unit. You can also e-mail the seller with any questions you may have, and this is actually a good technique to find out how responsive the seller is to customer service. After all, if they do not respond promptly to questions before you buy the pedal, they probably will not respond promptly to problems after the sale.

Guitar pedals are made to be stepped on, so by definition they are usually quite tough. However, if you’re purchasing older used guitar pedals it pays to ask questions about the condition the unit is in — especially if the pedal is being offered at a really cheap price. Remember the old saying, “if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.”

In particular, you should ensure that the input and output jacks on the pedal are solid and noise-free. Often, quarter-inch jacks on the sides of used guitar pedals become loose, and can cause random annoying “clicking” sounds. Don’t hesitate to ask the seller directly if the input and output jacks feel solid to the touch and are quiet.

You’ll also want to make sure the pedal has a reliable AC plug. In the case of some older guitar pedals, buying a “wall wart” AC plug will cost nearly as much as the pedal itsel. So you definitely want to be sure it is included in the sale.

Finally, consider your gut instinct before bidding on any used guitar pedal, especially a cheap one. Does the seller provide adequate information about the pedal? Is there a clear color photo of the unit? Sometimes an auction will just seem somehow “fishy,” and you’re not even sure why. In these cases, it’s better to hold back and listen to your gut instinct — it will usually be right.

You can buy all kinds of used guitar pedals at online auctions, and prices are normally cheaper than you will find in music stores or pawn shops; however, always take your time and thoroughly investigate both the guitar pedal and the seller before making a bid.

Great Baby Shower Themes

Tuesday, August 5th, 2008

Baby showers are one of life’s truly enjoyable moments and are now becoming more of a family event than ever before. Baby showers are typically held 1-2 months before the baby is due. They are held for expecting mothers, and also very popular for the adopted baby. Although in the past it was looked upon as strange to throw a shower for any child other than the first, baby showers are now common for all children. These fun parties are held to show love and support for the mom-to-be and the new arrival. In today’s world, baby showers are common and great fun — especially for a first-time mom and are referred to as “sprinkles” for mothers having second or more children. Traditionally, baby showers are held at the home of the hostess, who is not a member of the mommy-to-be’s immediate family, at least a month or two before the baby is due.

So how to plan a baby shower? The unfortunate reality is that too many are boring, so any new ideas to try to innovate or make things more interesting are a welcome change from cheesy themes, lame ice-breakers and the typical conversation. You can find great resources online for useful baby shower ideas and articles to help you plan your special party, as well as some other interesting related information. Most of all, remember that baby showers are about mom, not the guests.

There are so many baby shower ideas, themes, and games floating around, that it’s easy to get overwhelmed by it all. Perhaps the most common themes involve color schemes, but using well-known cartoon and nursery rhyme characters are also popular baby shower themes. You can learn about great baby shower themes, find out some unique ideas, get some delicious recipes to make, and find some fun favors to give your guest.

Much like any other party, showers can come in all sorts of themes, some related to motherhood and some not. The traditional baby shower has given way to new themes, and today’s showers are much more interesting and fun than they used to be.

Instead of the traditional booties hanging from the chandelier, go with something like a luau theme where all the gifts are in a tree hammock, people can bring their kids and have a limbo contest to music, and mom to be can enjoy frozen tropical “mocktails.” While other parties nay bore, your guests will be laughing and having the time of their lives thanks to the themes and games that you’ll incorporate. And if all else fails, pick up a nursery rhyme book and revisit those timeless tales, find one you like and use it as an inspiration for some great baby shower ideas - you’ll find a wealth of ideas for your invitations, decorations, games and even appetizers.

But don’t get too fancy: the more detailed theme you have, the more involved decorations, food, and favors you’ll need.

Best of luck in your baby shower planning!

Ball Python Sexing

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

Determining the sex of your snake is a good thing to do or have done.

There are a couple of reasons for wanting to know the sex of your snake.

First: If you’re a breeder, you need to know the sex to help you determine who you are going to be breeding your snake to. Most breeders look for females that are normal, and males that are a morph.

Normal/Morph: what are you talking about. A normal Ball Pythons typically has light brown splotches all over it’s body with black outlining them, the belly is typically off white with splotches of black. A morph can be extremely different, their whole body can be pearl white, or white with orangish yellow splotches, an Albino. Or black with really bright yellow splotches, a Lemon Pastel. There are too many to even consider listing here.

OK, back to our original subject, determining the sex. There are two ways you can go about this, the first way is probing, used the most by pet stores and owners of older snakes. The second is the popping method. This method is used by experienced breeders and owners of young snakes.

Probing: To do this you would hold the snakes tail bottom up. You will then lubricate a sexing probe, which can be purchased in most reptile shops or online. You take the rounded tip and insert it into the cloaca towards to snakes tail. You DO NOT need to force it in, this can cause damage. Slowly inserting it into the genitalia. When you feel a slight resistance you stop and and place your finger at the point the probe and body meet. Slowly pull the probe out while holding that spot. This will enable you to count the sub scales on the underside of the snakes belly. Place the probe right next to the body towards the tail and count the amount of scales form cloaca entrance to the tip of the probe, males can range from eight to ten sub scales. There are known cases where the male only measured five to six. Females typically measure from two to four sub scales. Do to the variance this method of sexing is not always accurate.

Popping: This has to be done by someone with experience. When popping you are forcing the hemipenis out of the male and the hemilogs out of the female. This method is best done on newly hatched to young snakes. As they age they can control their body parts better. This is the most accurate method when done correctly. To do this method you should place the snakes head and upper half of the body into a snake bag. You will then grab the tail and flip it upside down, slowly apply pressure from the end of the tail toward the cloaca, please DO NOT APPLY TOO MUCH PRESSURE. This action with force the hemipenis and hemilog out to see. A female has small nubs, while a male has a long narrow tube resembling a penis. Again this method is best practiced by someone with experience.

I hope you have learned a little something today. There are several great books like Ball Pythons, by the Barker’s with photo’s and technique. Visit our site and become a member of the ball python forum. You can post question there and get additional answers.
