Maybe Some Day Teacher Training Will Include Powerful, Real-World Interventions Like These

July 2nd, 2008 by adidastrackjacket6477

If you know a student who utterly lacks motivation
and interest for school, keep reading. Taken from our
Quickest Kid Fixer-Uppers Books, here are
novel, unexpected ways to turnaround apathetic, bored,
unmotivated, disinterested, at risk, negative students.
Once you’ve used these methods, you may find that
you are finally working with motivated, hopeful,
interested students who recognize the incredible

value of school.

*** If Life Were This Easy: Use this intervention with
students who think your services are a waste of time.
To use this intervention, read or show one sentence
of the following text, one sentence at a time. Allow students to laugh and snicker at each sentence before revealing the next phrase. This intervention
works really well, and is fun. Enjoy!

Here’s your new, high-paying job– and you can never
be fired from it!

Here’s your new, beautiful spouse, who is always
cheerful, never sick, and has tons of money!

Hope you like your new home. It’s your dream house
and it’s paid for, and will never need repairs!

Here’s all the possessions you’ve ever wanted, and,
of course, they are already paid for!

If life were this easy, you wouldn’t need us!

*** Sign This: Use this intervention with
students who think your services are useless. This
device is especially designed for older, harder-
edged kids, and is not appropriate for younger
kids and other youth. Please be thoughtful about
using it as it is very surprising and unusual– but
powerful and effective. Be sure this device is
appropriate to your site and community.

The next time you are having students signing forms,
and completing paperwork tasks, simply include the
text from the document below in the stack of papers,
then put that paper away until another time. The
next time a student tells you for the “hundredth”
time that your school or agency is a waste, have
the child review the following contract they signed.

This rather wordy document essentially says: “I
don’t want to be allowed to do anything I like,”
(or use other similarly surprising content.) When
the child says that they wouldn’t have signed
the document if they’d understood it, you can
respond: “Then maybe we still have something
to offer you here.”

The undersigned agrees to never attempt any
participation, commitment or interest in any
event, sport, past time, etc. that is a favorite
or preferred selection. The undersigned wishes
to never perform any favored activities including
but not limited to use of electronics, telephony,
etc. for the next millennium or longer.

Safe Sex is Still a Concern for Those Over 60 Years of Age

July 2nd, 2008 by adidastrackjacket6477
Add to Technorati Favorites

Just because you get older, it doesn’t mean you can be careless about your choice of sexual partners. For those over 60 years of age, you want to do your part to protect yourself. Both men and women need to take the responsibility for having condoms readily available. While they risk of pregnancy is likely in the past, the risk of sexually transmitted diseases is not.

Most individuals over the age of 60 aren’t out hooking up with new partners every weekend. Yet the biggest concern should be the people they have been with in the past. They may have been exposed to a sexually transmitted diseases such as HIV from a partner they were once with. They aren’t able to share that information with you as they don’t know it themselves. That is just too big of a risk to take.

Should you decide to be part of a committed relationship when you are over 60 with one partner, that is great. You both should be tested for sexually transmitted diseases though. The time frame for additional testing will depend on how much time has passed since each of you has been with someone else. Your medical professionals can provide all of that information for you.

Only after you get go ahead for the doctor can you stop using protection with that partner. You need to decide on the level of trust you have with that person though. Infidelity is a common issue in our society for people of all ages, not just over 60. If you are worried in the least that you may be exposed to anything due to that issue you need to continue using protection.

It is very naïve to assume that because you aren’t a spring chicken anymore that you don’t have to worry about the risk of sexually transmitted diseases. There is no discrimination from them based upon your age. Approximately 20% of the population that has tested positive for HIV is over 60 years of age. In at least half of the cases it is believed that they were exposed to the virus by engaging in unprotected sex after the age of 60.

Some individuals of this age group feel it is disrespectful to bring up the use of condoms. They don’t want to offend potential partners so they don’t even bring it up. Yet if you aren’t able to discuss the issue of safe sex with someone you plan to be intimate with then it is best to avoid such activity with them all together.

Others simply don’t realize they are still at risk at their age. There has been a great deal of information and education offered on the topic in the last 20 years. This was implemented as the number of individuals over 60 years of age with sexually transmitted diseases was on the rise for several years in a row.

The highest rate of sexually transmitted diseases among adults of this age group is found in male to male relationships. However, those that involve two females or one male and one female are also at risk too. There has been a myth in society that doesn’t seem to go away that only homosexual males are at risk of contracting a sexually transmitted disease in their older years. Everyone is at risk and so you should assume that anyone you are going to have sex with could possible have such infections to pass on to you. Some of them may know about it but others don’t and you need to not take such a risk.

When you are in your 60’s, you still have plenty of life ahead of you to enjoy. A healthy sex life should be a an enjoyable part of that life. However, you do need to be very realistic about the risk of sexually transmitted diseases. You don’t want to have something like that affect the quality of the remainder of life you have in front of you.

Should I Believe in Reincarnation?

July 2nd, 2008 by adidastrackjacket6477
Add to Technorati Favorites

Reincarnation means once you pass away in this life, you will be reborn as a different person. In this way, your soul will continue to live new lives and have new experiences. In this sense, death really isn’t an end but another new beginning - an opportunity for you to use what you have learned from consecutive lives in order to find further happiness and greater fulfilment in your new existence.

However, not everyone accepts reincarnation as a reality. Some believe death is the end of both our body and our soul. We simply cease to exist after only a tiny fragment of time. Others believe our bodies die while our souls transcend earth to live eternally in some type of paradise.

Regardless of your current beliefs, there are some very good reasons to believe in reincarnation.

The Long History of Reincarnation

Reincarnation is not a “new age” concept. The belief has been with us almost since the first civilizations and possibly even before. The Egyptians believed the soul (or ka, to use their terminology) left the body at death and would move to other bodies.

The respected Greek mathematician Pythagoras taught that reincarnation (or soul transmigration) was a reality. He believed the soul moved through different lives until it had become purified enough to leave the reincarnation cycle.

Some would argue that the Bible and Christianity also support a belief in reincarnation and that the many of Jesus’ teachings, such as “Unless man is reborn, he cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven.” This idea may suggest an agreement with Pythagoras and other Greek thinkers on the purpose of reincarnation.

Today, reincarnation is an accepted part of several major world religions, including Hinduism and Buddhism.

Other Reasons to Believe in Reincarnation

Besides the numerous examples in other religions and throughout human history, there are still other reasons to believe in reincarnation. Below is a list of some of these reasons:

  • Hypnotic Regression - Through hypnosis, many people have been able to uncover and remember actual experiences from their past lives. They have been able to describe places or events they had never read about or seen anything about before. These memories provide evidence that at least some of us have lived multiple lives.
  • Past Life Recall - Although we may not trust adults who tell us stories about their past lives, most of us are more likely to believe children who have no motivation to lie about their memories. There are numerous documented cases of spontaneous past life recall in children and this further supports the idea of reincarnation.
  • Intuition - Most of us have had the experience they we are reliving a moment of our lives or that we know a piece of information we should have no way of knowing. When we have these experiences, they stand out to us and stun us momentarily before we go back to our other occupations. However, these could very well be examples of our past lives seeping into our present memories.

Reincarnation is a serious belief with a long history among respected thinkers and world religions. Consider this when you decide whether or not to believe.

Our world is getting smaller as each day goes by. Through the advent of voice over IP technology, it has become easier, cheaper and more cost effective to talk to more people using this new technology.

Making long distance phone calls with VoIP is relatively easy. One must first sign up with VoIP service provider, get a local DID phone number, connect the provided telephone adapter, set up the various features and start making local and long distance phone calls.

More people are realizing that paying for the extra features like voicemail, caller ID, call forwarding, conference calling with other phone service providers is becoming too expensive. Many, if not most, voice over IP service providers include these super cool features in most of their services plans. Imagine calling your friend across the country and then calling another friend in another city and talking to them both at the same time with the included call conferencing feature.

Many consumers are surprised to find these features and more included in most of their service plans.

What new consumers of VoIP phone service technology need to become aware of is that many broadband phone companies are very competitive in advertising and trying to get your business.

Some companies offer free trial offers, others offer anywhere from 1 to 3 months free phone service, while others will even include a free VoIP phone adapter when you sign up.

Every long distance VoIP phone company wants your business and they are willing to give you special offers, discounts and even free VoIP phone services for a certain period of time.

When shopping for VoIP phone service, shop for VoIP deals, take your time, review the various features offered, view the long distance calling areas, check to see if they have set up fees and get some additional online reviews about VoIP phone service from others.

End of the day, one can save on local and long distance charges when utilizing the various features of broadband phone service.

Help For Agoraphobia Sufferers - What is Best?

July 1st, 2008 by adidastrackjacket6477
Add to Technorati Favorites

Agoraphobia is not a “fear of open spaces” as it is often interpreted from the Latin meaning but it is an anxiety disorder that is classified as agoraphobia because the fear is linked with situations that are out of the sufferers control and gives them no place to escape leading to them often holing up on a “Safe space” like their home; thus the misconception they fear open spaces or markets. Luckily there is help for agoraphobia sufferers that can give them ways to handle their fear.

We must however qualify that statement by saying there are three different kinds of help but only one that makes a real difference. The first method is medication. There are quite a few drugs that help with anxiety and agoraphobia by changing the way the body reacts chemically to feelings of fear controlling adrenaline release and other reactions that can lead to full blown panic attacks that cripple agoraphobics. While this sounds good and can help people with this disorder cope better it is a short term solution and does nothing when the drugs are not being taken this is not help but a crutch!

The second approach is a little better and involves psychological therapy. Trained professionals can offer help for agoraphobics by probing to find the reasons behind the fear and can offer ways to help with this. While this can help with your agoraphobia and have good results there is a third way which can be better for a number of reasons.

The third, and probably the hardest way is also the best for one reason that applies to agoraphobics in particular. If YOU can control your fear of not having control of situations then this overcomes not only your agoraphobia but gives you the knowledge that is was YOU that overcame your fears and not the drugs nor anyone else but yourself that has the power to control your own life which is lasting help for agoraphobia sufferers.

If you want to know more about self help solutions to help you conquer your fears and live life at 100% then click below.

Emerging Trends In Customer Relationship Management

July 1st, 2008 by adidastrackjacket6477
Add to Technorati Favorites

INTRODUCTION

The biggest management challenge in the new millennium of liberalisation and globalization for a business is to serve and maintain good relations with the king-the customer. In the past, producers took their customers for granted because at that time customers were not demanding nor had many alternative sources of supply or suppliers. Since he was a passive customer, the producer dictated terms and had little customer commitment. But today there is a radical transformation. The changing business environment is characterised by economic liberalisation, increasing competition, high consumer choice, enlightened and demanding customer, more emphasis on quality and value of purchase.

All these changes have made today’s producer shift from traditional marketing to modern marketing. Modern marketing calls for more than developing a product, pricing it, promoting it and making it accessible to target customers. It demands building trust, a binding force and value added relationship with the customers to win their hearts. The new age marketing aims at winning customers for ever, where companies greet the customers, create products to suit their needs, work hard to develop life time customers through the principles of customer delight, approval and enthusiasm.

WHAT IS CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT ( CRM )

The process of developing a cooperative and collaborative relationship between the buyers and sellers is called customer relationship management shortly called CRM.

CRM aims at focusing all the organizational activities towards creating and maintaining a customer. CRM is a new technique in marketing where the marketer tries to develop long term collaborative relationship with customers to develop them as life time customers. CRM aims to make the customer climb up the ladder of loyalty.

CUSTOMER FOCUS IN BANKING SERVICES

As the intense competition becomes a way of doing business, it is the customer who calls the shot in deciding the nature of products and services offered in the market. The customers are becoming demanding, dominant and selective. In fact the perceptions and the expectations of the customers have undergone a sea change, with the availability of banking services to the customers at their door steps through the help of technology.

Marketing of customer services aims at two important goals: prosperity to the bank and satisfied customers. Banks offer tangible services like loan schemes, interest rates and kinds of account and the intangible services like behavior and efficiency of staff, speed of transactions and the ambience. The banks may need to include customer oriented approach or customer focus in their five areas of businesses such as Cash accessibility, asset security, money transfer, deferred payment and financial advices.

There are four strategies available to customer relations’ managers:

??? To win back or save customers

??? To attract new and potential customers

??? To create loyalty among existing customers and

??? To up sell or offer cross services.

The future of banking business very much depends upon the ability of the banks to develop close relationship with the customers. In order to develop close relationship with the customers the banking industry has to focus on the technology oriented innovations that offer convenience to the customers. Today customers are offered ATM services, access to internet banking and phone banking facilities and credit cards. These have elevated banking beyond the barriers of time and space.

MARKETING OF BANKING SERVICES

Marketing of banking services means organizing right activities and programmes in rendering right services to the right people at the right place, at the right time at the right price and with right communication and promotion. Marketing of banking services embrace the following unique features

??? Intangibility-they cannot be seen or possessed physically but can only be experienced.

??? Inseparability-their production and consumption occur simultaneously.

??? Variability-they are highly variable depending on the merit of customers.

??? Perishability -they cannot be stored.

GLOLBALISED SCENARIO

“Change” is a continuous process and banking industry is no exception to this natural law. Change in the Indian banking industry is inevitable due to the implementation of the financial sector reforms and policies in the country. The main objective of financial sector reforms is to promote an efficient, competitive and diversified financial system in the country. Indian banking industry has undergone tremendous transformation after liberalization and globalisation process initiated from 1991. These changes have forced the Indian banking industry to adjust the product mix to effect the rapid changes in their process to remain competitive in the globalised environment.

COMPETITION FROM FOREIGN BANKS AND NEW PRIVATE SECTOR BANKS

The entry of more and more foreign banks and new private sector banks, with lean and nimble footed structure, better technology, market orientation and cost effective measures, have intensified the competition in the Indian banking industry. Financial Institutions have also started entering into the domain of banks. In recent years, the share of business of public sector banks has declined considerably. So there is a compelling need for the Indian banking industry to modify its marketing strategy to attract the customers and to withstand the stiff competition from foreign banks and new private sector banks.

TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANCEMENT

The advent of technology both in terms of computers and communications has drastically altered the methodology of banking business. In the banking sector, the technology has opened new vistas and in turn has brought new possibilities for doing the same work differently and in a most cost-effective manner. Technology helps to have 24 hours a day banking, all seven days in a week. Tele banking, Internet banking and E-banking have opened new business potentials and opportunities which hither to remained unexplored. All these technological advancement may pave the way for home banking rather than branch banking.

INNOVATION

Another important force of change in the Indian banking sector is innovation. Banks are innovative, pro-active now-a-days and offer top class service to customers. They play a dynamic role not only as a provider of finance but also as a departmental store of finance. As a result of this, new products like merchant banking, mutual funds, leasing, factoring, forfeiting, corporate advisory services and venture capital are emerging. These innovative services may augment revenue with cost effective measures.

DEVELOPMENT OF THE SKILLS OF BANK PERSONNEL

To meet the new challenges, banks have to devise novel ways of meeting the customer’s demands. To help the banking staff to get sufficient exposure to technology, suitable packages relating to hardware and software applications in relation to their works are to be provided. Further, a separate marketing wing may be created in every bank to market their banking services. They must be trained suitably to keep pace with the changing environment. In order to meet the challenges, the Human Resource Department in banks have to prepare appropriate manpower plans and strategies.

CONCLUSION

The recent trend of globalisation and liberalization has posed serious problems to domestic banks. The entry of new foreign banks and private sector banks with their advanced knowledge base of automation in the banking operations and aggressive marketing strategies has pushed public sector banks to a tight corner. Potential customers have started moving towards foreign banks and private sector banks. To survive and succeed, banks must identify their marketing areas, develop adequate resources, convert these resources into healthy and efficient services and distribute them effectively satisfying the manifold tastes of customers.

New Media Primer, A World of Digital Gypsies

July 1st, 2008 by adidastrackjacket6477
Add to Technorati Favorites

Steven Spielberg’s film Minority Report may take place in 2054, but the futuristic world he constructed is built from modern experience. A think-tank of experts from fields as diverse as Advertising, Architecture, and the Military gathered during the film’s pre-production to construct a plausible future. The end result is a world of communicative technologies, where interaction is personal and informative. Where mass communication can speak with a personal message. Interpersonal and Mass Communication evolve in the digital world to create a third medium - The New Medium.

Can you recall the first time digital communication startled you with a personal suggestion? Your first Amazon.com recommendation, or a television show TIVO recorded for you, just because it thought you might enjoy it?

No doubt you sat for a moment pondering whether mass media had made you so mainstream that broadcasters could paint your personality with one broad stroke of their brush. More importantly, I can safely bet you wondered as well, just how your own company could learn to turn mass communication into a personal experience, reaching a broad audience with refined messages.

Someone was manufacturing crystal balls, and like every great entrepreneur and businessman you immediately wanted a coveted peak at the answer floating inside amid swirls of smoke, pixie dust, and strings of binary code.

The Medium has become A Medium?

The world of the 21st Century is not full of “squares.” Quite the contrary, we live in a vibrant community of unique individuals. Reaching out and connecting with a broad audience today requires the sophisticated delivery of your message in countless variations. The “crystal ball” is not magic; it is the efforts of a talented and dedicated pool of marketing managers at defining the breadth of their client base and coming to an understanding of how to adapt their message and pitch to each group. Using a computer database, TIVO and Amazon.com are successfully able to deliver a custom pitch to their clients. The computer is no longer just a sales tool; it’s a salesman!

The classification of Communication Mediums is important step in selecting the medium appropriate to your project. Interpersonal Media is a format for person-to-person communication. This type of communication is specific and personal, as it is direct correspondence between a known sender and receiver. Examples include letters, e-mail, the telephone, and instant messaging. Mass Media is a format for person-to-public communication. Mass Media aims to send a message to a vast audience, reaching larges numbers with a single communicative stroke. Public oration, books, television, film, radio and Youtube are all prime examples of Mass Media.

In comparison, New Media builds upon the strength of these two Mediums by delivering personalized person-to-public communication. Through a defined client base, individualized marketing materials, and a refined method for sorting users, New Media can deliver a higher impact message to consumers while still benefiting from the reduced overhead of Mass Media. As you might have already surmised, the defining difference between the mediums is necessarily technological: both Interpersonal and Mass Media have existed since man’s first cognitive exchange. New Media, however, is born of the digital age, a byproduct of the digital database.

New Media and Moving Images

As a scholar and contributor to the world of film and computer science, I am thrilled by the collision of the two worlds. Most recently the world of film has been revolutionized by non-linear, digital editing systems. On the flipside, the Internet has reached a highly publicized benchmark, dubbed “Web 2.0,” through the introduction of virtual broadcast spaces, such as Youtube, which rely on user-generated content.

This history runs back further than most would guess, in fact, film and computers have been connected since the day the first digital computer ran a successful calculation! Like every great computer entrepreneur, German engineer Konrad Zuse built the world’s first digital computer in his parent’s living room in 1936. This hulking contraption of tubes drove calculations and stored the results. Like the computers which would dominate the next few decade, input and output came in the form of punched holes representing binary digits. However, unlike the future machines, Zuse’s ran on a curious media: discarded 35mm film prints!

The creation of New Media brings Zuse’s story full-circle as we now see the potential for film and video content to rely upon digital computers in order to communicate. Of course we see this reliance in many of the new digital media formats such as online media players, ipods, DVDs, etc; however, these examples of new Mass Communications do not take full advantage of the digital computer’s ability to analyze, interpret, and deliver specialized content. Through the incorporation of database structures in a communication delivery network, Mass Communication content can be created and appropriately distributed. It shouldn’t be a stretch of the imagination by this point to envision your current marketing campaign reaching a new level of personalization through a multimedia CD-ROM or web application.

With New Media you are encouraged to leave the broad paint brush behind, and begin to reach out to more refined divisions in your client base, touching each on a much richer level than you would at the traditional broad level. What’s even greater is the same act that lets you analyze your client will let you establish a communication with them…this is the personal side. With digital video formats hitting new performance peaks, personalized, media rich communication is primed to be the next leap.

Online Education Colleges - New Learning for a New Age

June 23rd, 2008 by adidastrackjacket6477
Add to Technorati Favorites

It’s a truism to say that society is changing - and changing rapidly. New technological developments are radically reshaping society at every level, including the educational system. In the days before the internet, getting a college education meant that you had to follow a specific path. You graduated from high school and moved into a dorm, where you lived for four years while you devoted your whole life to studying. You might have had time for sports, but you didn’t have a job, or a family. But in today’s changing society, people across the demographic spectrum are starting to pursue college degrees, and they’re largely doing it at online education colleges.

One of the main groups of people who benefit from online education colleges are older adults who may be past the age of the ‘traditional’ college student. These adults are frequently working at full time jobs where they don’t have control over their hours, so it’s often difficult for them to make a commitment to attend daily classes. They may also be married or raising a family, and they don’t want to sacrifice precious time with their loved ones just to have to sit through another lecture. These adults have lots of demands on their time, and as a result, the class schedules of traditional institutions meant that they could not pursue a degree.

Online courses offer a number of solutions to this problem. First, when you take a course online, you do not have to commit yourself to any certain schedule. This is incredibly convenient because you can study when you have time and when it’s convenient for you. If you work all night, you can study during the day; if you work all day, you can study at two o’clock in the morning; if you need to wait until you put your children to bed, you can do that, too. Because you have access to the readings and syllabus all at once, you can work at your own pace. This often means that you can complete your courses - and your degree - in substantially less time than you would need at a traditional institution. You can also enjoy the convenience of not having to leave your home to attend class. This is especially valuable if you have young children, or if you’re worried about seeming ‘out of place’ among younger students.

Finally, there is virtually no stigma attached with online education colleges. Most employers are far more concerned with your skill set and with the fact that you have a degree than with the way you attained it. So don’t let any more concerns stand in your way of pursuing your educational dreams!

http://online-education101.com is a website fully devoted to providing you with the best information regarding online education. Whether you’re interested in learning about the various online education colleges, or the growing use of online education technology, we’ve got you covered!
